Some questions you may have ...

How does my studio stand out?

With 35 years' worth of experience, you learn how to let the best and most unique aspects of a child to revel itself. I always meet with you beforehand and carefully listen. I listen to what you want and listen to who you are as a family. The mechanics of any shoot should be second nature to the process. It's my goal to give you a real treasure that covers the range of your progeny, from happy to inquisitive, thoughtful, and even challenged.

Once we've met, we agree upon an environment in which your children are most comfortable, and one in which they can express some key elements of what makes them so unique and special to the world around them.

I will listen carefully to your needs. 95% of real success is clear communication. I realize this. I listen and observe.

Please be assured that under no circumstances will your children be in session without your presence, or the presence of a guardian. Not for one minute. This protects everyone. Every professional out there has this rule. It's a sad fact of the world we live in, but that's the way life is.

What do I enjoy about the work I do?

I approach every opportunity to capture the uniqueness of children with passion, insight and experience. Real passion can stand the test of time. I've been making my living in photography for over 35 years, and I am still excited about the endless opportunities and gifts child portraiture can reveal. What you reveal is an insight into who this incredible little being is. These are the faces and minds and hearts of our future. Having the privilege to capture this essence is, quite simply, a wonder and a true joy.

What education do I have?

I have a BS in Industrial/Scientific Photography from Brooks Institute of Photography. I have worked on staff for NASA Ames Dryden Flight Research Facility as well as a Senior Photographer for Hallmark Cards Inc. I have over 35 years worth of experience in commercial photography.

How do I determine fees?

Bookings and pricing are determined for the client during the initial phone consultation. I determine the type of work requested as well as the number of hours required to provide the final product to the client. My rates are very competitive and all images are given over to the client with full reproduction rights.

How did I get started doing this type of work?

From the first time I picked up a camera as a teenager I've always enjoyed capturing the magic of people, light, and how we all elicit responses from each other. In a way it really is magic. This is what makes it so very special.

What types of clients have I worked with?

The southern California market is unique. From high end, low key sessions with the children and families of actors to pro bono work for those who deserve magic in their difficult lives. It's a real privilege to work with so many diverse families. It's been most fortunate, I'm grateful for all of it.

One recent project

If you're fortunate in your chosen profession you've got to give back to the greater community at large. I did a pro bono piece for a family in the Santa Monica area of Los Angeles who had recently been homeless. These were good people with a big heart. My gift to them was treasured, but what I received in return was so gratifying. Their whole community rose to their aid, I played a tiny, tiny role in helping them to get back on their feet and feel whole again. It was really very special.
